Childreach was founded in 1975 by Dr. John McKim, a London pediatrician. In 1997, Childreach and the Early Childhood Education Resource Centre joined together to create an Early Childhood Development and Parenting Centre that serves the residents of London and childcare programs in the surrounding five counties. Childreach is governed by a volunteer board of directors representing the community. Our services are publicly funded.
We provide play-based learning programs for children from birth to six years and their families and a full range of supports and services for parents, informal caregivers and licensed childcare providers in home-based programs and Early Childhood Educators in childcare centres. We recognize that childcare providers in the licensed and informal sectors have a huge impact on the healthy development of young children. Childreach resources will be used to create supportive networks that link people to other community supports, programs and services. Many Childreach programs are collaborative efforts with other professionals and agencies, community groups and parent organizations.
Misssion: Working with families and our community, Childreach will foster the healthy development of children by providing learning opportunities, information, and support for children and those that care for them.
Vision: Childreach will be a leader in the community dedicated to giving all children the best start in life.
