Planning a stay-cation during the winter break?   We invite you to bring your children 0-6 years of age to our playroom for lots of FUN at NO COST.  For the first time, we are opening our doors between Christmas and New Years.  The playroom will be open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (December 28 – 29) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  This is a great opportunity for those of you who work Monday to Friday and aren’t able to visit the playroom with your children during the week year-round.   It’s especially good for those days when the children begin to get bored, and you need to get out of the house!

Happy holidays from the staff  of Childreach!!

Friday, December 31 10-4 p.m.

Ring in the new year twelve hours early at the Children’s Museum!  Enjoy lots of festive family fun including live music, cookie decorating, face painting, balloon animals, glitter fireworks, and crafts and activities from around the world!  Don’t miss the countdown to the balloon drop at 12 noon!

One of our clients, Caroline Lightowler, is a representative for Lovable Labels and she made us aware of the fundraising opportunity that they offer.  We took a look, and decided it was so easy that we should do it!

Lovable Labels are extra tough, colourful and fun labels, perfect for labeling all of your kids stuff.  They are laundry, dishwasher and microwave safe, and are available in sticker labels, iron-ons, shoe labels and bag tags.  You can personalize them with your child’s name and a fun icon.

And, this fundraiser is entirely paperless!  Simply go to the dedicated website, www.childreach.lovablelabels.ca, check out all of the products and order.  20% of the total sales received through this site will come to Childreach.  Our “campaign” will run from today until January 6, 2011.

There is a display of the products in the playroom if you’d like to take a look, and if you need additional information, Caroline would be happy to provide it.  She may be reached at 519-453-0575 or Lightowler@lovablelabels.ca.

Please feel free to forward this post to anyone with young children that might be interested in purchasing some Lovable Labels.  They are good quality, and will help your kids keep and get their stuff back home.

 Thank you.

Make sure you wear a little green today!

For some crafty ideas to enjoy with your children, check out the Crafty Crow.   We also love this painting activity and snack idea geared for preschoolers.

As a member of the Hyde Park Lions Club, our Board President Matt Brown is helping organize their first ever Santa Claus Parade along Gainsborough Road on Saturday, November 28 from 11 a.m.

The parade with begin at Sherwood Forest Mall and travel west on Gainsborough Road.  Hot chocolate and cookies will be available along Gainsborough Road,  so bring a lawn chair, pick out a good location, and enjoy the parade!

The parade is operated by the Hyde Park Lions Club as a service to the Community.  Any profits will be used for Lions programs and community betterment.

Plans are underway to have many community groups take part with parade participants collecting non-perishable foods to support the local food banks and the Salvation Army.  Canada Post staff will be collecting those important “Letters to Santa” and much more.

Here’s the facebook event page .
